One of my class hosts had the idea of including a card box in a recent class. Consequently she shared the design of this box with me. It will hold 8 cards and envelopes and can be made deeper if you wish to gift more cards or other items.
With inspiration from CardyG I used the Ringed With Nature bundle to decorate the top of the box.
I loved the DSP showing through on CardyG’s card and wanted to create that on my box. Therefore I chose a different pattern from the same Happy Forest Friends pack of DSP.
During the class we made 2 additional cards, also using the Ringed With Nature Bundle, that I’ll cover in seperate posts.
MAKING THE BOX
I followed the video by Heather Forgan to get the size and construction of the box. Heather explains very well that the lid needs to be just a smidge larger than the base and shows an easy way to do this without going crazy with the maths.

DECORATING THE LID
I then took a 15.5cm x 10.5cm piece of Crumb Cake and embossed it using the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder from the Ringed With Nature bundle. Then I used the dies that cut the centres out of the tree rings. Thus creating the peek through for the DSP to layer behind.
Before I adhered the DSP I added crumb cake ink around the edges of the openings with a blending brush to define them and also highlighted the tree rings that were embossed but not cut.
The DSP is cut slightly smaller at 15cm x 10cm and adhered using liquid glue.
DECORATION DETAILS
The sliced logs on the front were made with Soft Suede and Crumb Cake cardstock by using the cutting die inside the embossing folder to cut and emboss at once. Soft Suede ink was added to the crumb cake piece around the edges with a blending brush. I layered the 2 sizes together and adhered them with liquid glue.
Next I cut various branches, leaves and mushrooms from the set of dies. I used Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake and Poppy Parade cardstock.
For each branch I took a Soft Suede one and a matching Old Olive and Mossy Meadow one and cut the leaves off the 2 green ones and adhered them over the soft suede leaves. These I tucked around the openings and sliced logs along with the mushrooms and acorns.
Finishing touches include the sentiment from the Ringed With Nature stamp set and the sweet bow using twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack.
Definately an over the top decoration for the card box but a really fun project that was enjoyed by everyone in my class.
