Delicate Pines Wreath Birthday Card

I love finding new ways to stretch my craft supplies — and this week’s project is a perfect example! I took a Christmas-themed stamp set, the Delicate Pines Bundle, and used a completely different colour palette to create a birthday card.

Handmade birthday card using delicate pines, wreath 3d embossing folder and the colours Cloud Cover, Crumb Cake, black & white. The sprigs and leaves are centered around a crumb cake cirlce on a white wreath embossed background. The words happy birthday are embossed in white on black card stock and fussy cut. They sit over the greenery across the circle.

A Fresh Take on the Delicate Pines Bundle

The colours — Cloud Cover, Crumb Cake, Black, and White — were inspired by the talented Yvonne Spikmans from the Netherlands. Together, they create a soft, beachy, summertime vibe, which feels so different from the traditional greens I usually reach for with this set.

Adding Texture and Layers

To add texture, I used the Traditional Wreath 3D Embossing Folder, which gives just the right amount of dimension without overpowering the design. One of my favourite things about the Delicate Pines Dies is that they include extra pieces beyond the outlines — delicate leaves and sprigs that are perfect for layering. I combined these with both stamped and die-cut images to build up the composition.

Choosing The Perfect Sentiment

For the sentiment, I turned to the With You In Mind stamp set. I bought this one especially for its versatile phrases — ideal for embossing in white on black cardstock. I love the bold, modern look this creates, and it works beautifully with so many different card styles.

Fussy Cutting Tips

If you enjoy cutting out your stamped images by hand, here are a few of my go-to tips:

  • For long, straight cuts, use a pair of scissors with a long blade.

  • For more detailed, intricate shapes, switch to small scissors with a fine, pointed blade.

  • Keep the scissors moving forward and use your other hand to guide the cardstock, turning it as you go.

  • When you’re nearly finished, snip the image away from the larger scrap piece — it makes completing the cut much easier.

Rethinking Seasonal Stamp Sets

I really enjoyed creating with the Delicate Pines Bundle in a new way. It’s a great reminder that our Christmas stamp sets don’t have to be limited to one season. Have a look through your own collection — you might be surprised how many fresh combinations and ideas are waiting to be discovered!
