Use Scraps of Lovely Blossoms DSP for a Hello Friend Card

The idea for today’s project came from a pile of scraps left over from my February classes I set myself a goal to use scraps of the Lovely Blossoms Designer Series Paper and make a hello friend card. I love finding ways to use scraps, because the papers are always far too pretty not to use every piece, right? This project is a great reminder that even the smallest offcuts can come together to create something special.

Use Scraps of Lovely Blossoms DSP to Build the Card Background

To begin, I started with a Basic White cardstock layer and used it as the base for my design. I adhered my Lovely Blossoms scraps directly onto this panel, placing them side by side to create a striped background. My scraps were fairly uniform in size, but you could easily mix different widths for a more playful look.

Once all the strips were glued down, I trimmed away the overhanging edges. This step instantly makes everything look clean and polished, while still keeping the focus on those gorgeous patterns.

Use Lovely Blossoms Patterns for a Soft Focal Point

I didn’t want the focal point to cover too much of the background, as the strips of Lovely Blossoms DSP really are the star of the card. For that reason, I chose the second-largest square from the Stylish Shapes Dies and die cut it from a coordinating pattern in the Lovely Blossoms paper.

This keeps the design balanced and allows the background scraps to remain visible, which is perfect when you’re aiming to use scraps effectively.

Stamped Details That Coordinate with Lovely Blossoms DSP

Next, I added some stamped elements to tie everything together. The flowers were stamped in Cloud Cover ink, which softens the look and complements the paper beautifully. To add a little extra detail, I dotted the centres with a Secret Sea Blend, mimicking a printed design found within the DSP.

The leaves were stamped in Secret Sea onto Cloud Cover cardstock for the same reason, keeping everything cohesive. The coordinating dies cut these elements out perfectly, making this step quick and satisfying.

Hello Friend Sentiment Using Lovely Arrangements Dies

The Hello Friend sentiment has been a firm favourite during my February classes, so it felt like the perfect choice for this card. I used the oval shape from the coordinating Lovely Arrangements Dies to cut the sentiment, as it frames the greeting nicely without overpowering the background.

Finish the Card Front and Inside

To finish the card front, I added five embellishments from the Moody Palette Glossy Dots. I may have gone a little “crazy,” but they add just the right amount of shine and bring everything together.

For the inside of the card, I continued the theme by using another scrap piece of Lovely Blossoms DSP, which I adhered to a strip of Secret Sea cardstock. This small detail helps the inside feel just as considered as the front.
