FAUX STEP GARDEN CARD

Needing something a bit different for my April class I came across a card by Betty Saccocia on Instagram. It was this faux step card. I love her idea of creating the look of the step card but without all the scoring and cutting.

Faux Step Garden Card

FAUX STEP GARDEN CARD MEASUREMENTS

You can make this card with any of the pretty paper you have in your stash. I’ve used the Heart & Home designer series paper. I love the neutral designs on the reverse to the colourful garden patterns.

My card base is Thick Basic White 10.5 x 26 cm scored at 3cm, 6cm, 16cm and 6cm x 29.7cm scored at 14.8cm and folded in half.

I have decorated the base with 10cm x 9.6cm and 10cm x 2.6cm contrasting DSP.

The longer card scored in the middle is attached over the top of the DSP to the front and the back of the card base. Just make sure the edges align at the bottom.

This top section has a 5.6 x 14.4cm piece of the neutral, white washed looking wood DSP.

Then I’ve used the now retired Flowering Rain Boots stamp set to decorate the front.

I made 2 of the design for samples in my class, one as a birthday card. Then one for Mother’s Day as my mother in law loves gardening.

I used the pot, leaves and tulips stamps to create a little plant for the inside.

The class attendees really liked this easy way to make a step card and loved the garden theme as well. I’d love to hear what you think, please leave a comment.
