WINTER BIRD WITH WATERCOLOUR

It’s world watercolour month! I used the Perched In A Tree Bundle and watercoloured the background and the bird for this class project. The class theme was Mid-Winter Christmas since it is actually winter here. Therefore my card depicts a winter bird with watercolour background.

Winter Bird Watercolour

PERCHED IN A TREE BUNDLE

The Perched In A Tree Bundle includes the die to cut the oval with tree trunks. I found I had to twist the die slightly from where I thought it was straight to get my tree trunks straight against the side of the thick white cardstock.

Taking an idea from the mini catalogue I used a dauber to sponge some Basic Gray ink onto the tree trunks where the notches are to depict the bark.

Starting with a blank piece of Shimmery White cardstock I used Balmy Blue Ink in a little water and applied it with the thickest brush from the Water Painters set. Dimensionals were used under the tree trunks and around the piece to adhere this layer over the watercolour background.

The sentiment is white heat embossed onto Basic Gray cardstock and adhered across the oval layer using liquid glue. The cardbase is also Basic Gray.

WATERCOLOURING THE BIRD

After stamping the bird using Stazon onto Shimmery White cardstock I watercoloured it using Pear Pizzazz, Basic Gray and Petal Pink. The colours merged slightly and I used enough intensity so they stand out but it’s still soft.  In addition a little Wink of Stella was added to the chest of the brid.

After die cutting it I turned it over on a foam mat and with the rounded end of my bone folder rounded the tummy, head and chest. To mount it I used dimensionals to keep the curve created with the bone folder.

Lastly I added 3 Rhinestone Basic Jewels for a bit more festive sparkle.

I hope you enjoyed my winter bird with watercolour project and seeing another way to use the Perched In A Tree Bundle.
