This Woodland Wishes Easel Christmas Card features the adorable woodland animals from the Woodland Wishes stamp set. I bought this set in the recent Stampin’ Up! stamp sale, the discount was too good to refuse! It is such a cute set for Christmas. However, I think you could use it all year round. The animals would also be easy to cut out for a variety of card designs.
Woodland Wishes Easel Christmas Card Colouring
For this project, I wanted to use the soft Barely Blush colour from the 2026–2028 In Color Gingham Gallery 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper. Therefore, I kept the colouring of the animals soft and subtle.
I cased the colouring from Laurel McCoy in Canada. Laurel used watercolour paper and ink to colour her animals. The watercolour paper has a creamy colour. Instead, I chose Basic White Thick Cardstock and Watercolour Pencils to create a similar effect.
I also stamped the animals in Basic Gray ink rather than black. This gives the images a much softer look, which suited the gentle colour palette perfectly.
Colouring the Woodland Wishes Animals
The smaller images were easy to colour with Watercolour Pencils. Then, I blended the pencil smoothly with a Blender Pen.
For the deer and bear, I took a slightly different approach. I only coloured part of each animal. I then used the finest Water Brush to soften and blend the pencil into the uncoloured area. This created a soft, watercoloured effect without colouring the entire image.
Creating the Woodland Wishes Easel Card
This easel card folds up from the horizontal aspect, so I needed to consider the shape of the focal point carefully. I chose the fourth-largest Everyday Arches Die to feature the Woodland Wishes animals.
The arched shape worked beautifully with the image. It also gave me plenty of room to show the little woodland characters without making the card feel crowded.
I also loved the opportunity to include the Barely Blush Bordered Ribbon. I tied a bow and placed it to the side of the focal panel. It adds another soft touch without taking attention away from the stamped images.
Adding the Easel Card Stopper
An easel card always needs a stopper to hold the card open. So, I stamped the sentiment from the Woodland Wishes stamp set in Basic Gray to match the animals.
I trimmed the sentiment and layered it onto Barely Blush Cardstock. Then, I popped it up with Dimensionals. This gives the sentiment enough height to hold the easel in place while also adding a little dimension to the card.
Finishing the Woodland Wishes Christmas Card
Finally, I added a few white sequins for a touch of sparkle. I love how they catch the light without making the card feel too heavy or fussy.
The inside of the card features a deer and bird. There is also plenty of room to write a personal Christmas message.

Final Thoughts
I love how this Woodland Wishes Easel Christmas Card turned out. It is soft, sweet and just as cute as I hoped it would be. The combination of Barely Blush, soft colouring and those adorable woodland animals makes this a lovely Christmas card.
And while I made this one for Christmas, I can already imagine using these Woodland Wishes animals on cards throughout the year.
