In this post, I’ll show you how I created a handmade Artistic Leaves Collage Card using layered stamping, collage techniques, and text elements for a unique mixed media design.
Colour Combination for a Warm Look
The colour palette for this card includes Blackberry Bliss, Pecan Pie, Fresh Freesia, and Crumb Cake. Together, they create a warm design with just the right amount of pop. This combination balances richness with softness, making it perfect for a collage-style background.
Using the Elements of Text Stamp Set
The Elements of Text stamp set is currently on the last chance list. I always keep a set like this in my collection because words add subtle, beautiful detail to card backgrounds. The fonts in this set are versatile, and the included splatter stamps help create the look of natural ink splodges. These details contribute to the vintage, aged effect of this card.
Artistic Leaves Collage Card Aging Techniques for Texture
To build depth and interest, I used several aging techniques:
Ink blending for soft edges
Distressing and tearing for texture
Embossing to add dimension
The Pecan Pie cardstock layer was embossed with the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder. To enhance the detail, I dragged the Pecan Pie ink pad over the raised surface, which created even more depth and character.
Sentiment and Finishing Touches
The “Thank You” sentiment is heat-embossed in gold embossing powder on a Basic White circle die-cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies. To tie the look together, I coloured Linen Thread with the Dark Blackberry Bliss Blend marker so it coordinated perfectly with the design.
The final touch includes die-cut leaves from the Charming Day Dies, which layer beautifully over the collage background.
