Floating Strips Christmas Card

Are you ready to try a fun and eye-catching technique for your holiday crafting? Today I’m sharing how to make a Floating Strips Christmas Card using the gorgeous Elegant Pine Snowflakes Designer Series Paper and the Bauble Blooms stamp and die set.

This technique is perfect if you’ve been saving up scraps of designer paper—those thin little strips are just what you need to create the floating effect.

Why I Chose These Supplies

For this Floating Strips Christmas Card, I started with the Elegant Pine Snowflakes DSP. I’ve been using it in my monthly classes, which means I’ve built up quite a collection of leftovers. Rather than waste them, I turned them into something special.

To highlight the fresh greens in the DSP, I picked Old Olive as my card base. It looks beautiful against the darker Secret Sea tones in the paper. I also wanted to use the Old Olive Linen Thread as the hanger for my ornament, so everything coordinates perfectly.

Adding the Details

To make the background pop, I blended a little Old Olive ink with a blending brush. This gives a soft backdrop for the floating strips ornament. If you’d like even more texture, try adding ink splatters—just flick the tip of your Old Olive Stampin’ Blend against the lid for an easy speckled effect.

The sentiment comes from the Bauble Blooms stamp set. I also used the coordinating dies to cut the bauble outline and topper, tying the whole card together beautifully.
