Welcome to my new look website, created by a professional. It’s super smart and I can’t wait to fill in the beautiful spaces. It’s lovely to have a clean slate but I don’t want it to be bare so I’m sharing a few recent cards to get started.
21st CARD
It’s not often that I create a card with someone in mind. Normally I make samples for classes and display them on my bookcase until I need them. However my lovely niece turned 21 recently so this was made for her.
INSPIRATION
The idea came from Brenda Nelson and her Valentines post. I love the combination of the black & white with pink.
I started with Brenda’s Galentine’s Day design using the True Love Designer Series Paper and the blended Flirty Flamingo background. It was my first time with the blending brushes and I must say I loved it, easy to use and great coverage.
I used the stitched scallop border from the Stitched Be Mine Dies and the Timeless Label Punch to punch out the sentiment which I popped up on dimensionals.
DESIGN DETAILS
Before I attached everything I played around with the elements and added some extra touches. In order to break up the black panel a bit I created the gold leaf edge. I simply tapped the card onto my versamark and then used Heat & Stick Powder and heat to create a sticky surface then I added the Gilded Leaf embellishment.
Additionally I cut numbers using the Playful Alphabet dies and adhesive sheet for the gold leaf to stick to.
The best part for me is the black and white flowers, all I had to do was trim them from the True Love designer series paper. I have been using them in projects a lot recently, they can be coloured in many ways or left as they are to perfect effect.
I love how the card turned out and my niece loved it too in addition to the Pandora jewellery.
