How to Make a Flip Flap Album for Travel Memories

Today I’m sharing a flip flap album I created for my travel buddies for our demonstrator event in Sydney. Whenever we attend these events together we take lots of photos, so I thought it would be fun to create a little album that captures some of those memories in an interactive way.

A flip flap album is perfect for projects like this because each flap lifts to reveal more photos, journaling, or decorative layers. It turns a simple mini album into something playful and interactive, and it’s a lovely way to relive the special moments from our trip.

Building the Flip Flap Album Base with Two Tone Cardstock

For the album base I used Two Tone Cardstock in Secret Sea. This deep rich colour provides a lovely contrast against the patterned paper and gives the album a flexibility that can handle many openings without being bulky.

The darker base also helps the photos stand out, which is always important when creating a flip flap album designed to showcase special memories.

Adding Interactive Flip Flaps

Of course the real feature of this project is the flip flaps themselves. Each flap holds additional photos from our trip and creates that interactive element that makes the album so fun to explore.

As each flap is lifted, another photo or decorative layer is revealed. This style of album is perfect when you want to include multiple pictures but still keep the project compact. One of the advantages of a flip flap album is how easy it is to expand.

A Special Keepsake from Our Sydney Trip

I loved creating this flip flap album to capture the memories from our demonstrator event in Sydney. Interactive projects like this make it easy to showcase travel photos, and my favourite part is how simple it is to add more flip flaps later. My travel buddies can keep adding photos and memories from the trip, turning this flip flap album into a keepsake we can enjoy for years to come.
