In July I held a mid-winter Christmas class and created this card using the Trees For Sale stamps and the Tree Lot Dies. The dies are a Sale-a-bration gift with a $220 NZD order and there’s only 1 more day to make a qualifying order! The dies are still available in NZ.
TREES FOR SALE STAMP SET
I love the versatility of this set for a summer Christmas. You can choose to make snow covered trees or, for us in the southern hemisphere, make trees in shades of green.
TREE LOT DIES
The co-ordinating dies are only available during Sale-a-bration. This is an amazing gift with 24 dies in the set!
Not only do they cut out and have layering pieces for the trees they also cut the dog, for sale sign and the string of lights. In addition, you get a really cute caravan complete with wreath for the door, curtain for the window and festive bunting.
CARD DETAILS
I used the layout from Leonie Stuart’s post and changed the colours to Real Red, Soft Succulent, Mossy Meadow and Pool Party.
The string on lights was stamped directly on the Basic White layer in Memento along with the Real Red sentiment. I coloured the lights using blends.
The trees were stamped first using Soft Succulent and then I used the second stamp in Mossy Meadow for the detail. Is used the Tree Lot Dies to die cut the trees and the caravan.
BUILD YOUR CARAVAN
The main body was cut from Pool Party and the roof and base cut from Basic White. The Basic White parts were glued on top of the Pool Party base.
A strip of vellum behind the windows allows the trees to show through. Next I added the curtain and dressed the door with the wreath and bow. Lastly, I added the Real Red bunting
MASKING PAPER – TREES FOR SALE INSIDE
I used the new Masking Paper (AC pg 149) to create this scene. Firstly stamp the tree in the foreground onto the inner and then onto the masking paper. Cut the tree out manually from the masking paper. If you use the die there will be a border of white around it that you don’t want.
Peal the backing off and place the mask over the stamped tree and stamp the 2nd tree so they overlap. Importantly, pay attention to the area where the masking paper is. The paper is thin but you’ll see on my close up that it left a white gap where the ink didn’t reach the card . Consequently a careful bit of extra pressure on that side is needed.
Carefully remove the masking paper and hey presto, one tree is behind the other. You can reuse the mask several times.
The sign was stamped in Soft Suede and die cut using the die from the Tree Lot Dies.
