Today’s Elegantly Wrapped Christmas Card uses the Elegantly Wrapped stamp set to create a repeat stamping background in white Craft Ink. I also use hot foil for the sentiment and share how to use foil in the video.
The design is inspired by Martin Stone from the UK. He made his original card six years ago. I love that a great card idea can inspire us years later. We can simply adapt it using the supplies we have today.
Elegantly Wrapped Christmas Card Inspiration
The Elegantly Wrapped stamp set is part of the All Wrapped Up Suite, found on pages 22–23 of the September–December Catalogue. It is also the focus of the projects in my September classes.
I love finding older card designs that still inspire me. They show that we don’t always need a completely new idea. Instead, we can take something we love and give it our own twist.
Creating the Repeat Stamping Background
I love the look of white Craft Ink stamped onto Crumb Cake. The two colours work so beautifully together.
I also love creating backgrounds with stamps. It makes me feel like I’m getting great use from my stamp sets and getting my money’s worth!
Repeat stamping is a background technique I use often. Simply stamp the image repeatedly across the cardstock to create a pattern. You can keep the images evenly spaced or let them overlap slightly for a more relaxed look.
For this Elegantly Wrapped Christmas Card, I adhered the Crumb Cake layer with Dimensionals. This simple step adds interest and creates a lovely shadow line around the edge.
Adding Vellum to the Christmas Card
Next, I added a vellum circle behind the sentiment. Vellum brings a lovely softness to the design. It also gives the sentiment a subtle anchor without hiding too much of the stamped background.
However, vellum can be tricky when it comes to adhesive. Be sure to watch the video for my tips on how to attach vellum without the glue showing.
Hot Foil for the Elegantly Wrapped Christmas Card
Adding hot foil during the live was a little daring! Thankfully, it went quite well.
I did miss the beep at the start to let me know the machine had heated up. Apart from that, I simply followed the instructions and enjoyed the magic of pulling away the foil to reveal the beautiful gold words.
I love the shine that the gold foil adds to this Christmas card. It gives the simple design a lovely touch of Christmas sparkle.
Best of all, I’ve now topped up my stash of foiled Christmas words. So, I have plenty ready for more Christmas crafting!

Final Thoughts
I love how this Elegantly Wrapped Christmas Card combines simple stamping with a touch of gold foil. The white Craft Ink creates a soft background on the Crumb Cake cardstock, while the vellum and foiled sentiment add layers of texture and sparkle. Most importantly, it’s a lovely reminder that an older card design can still inspire something fresh with today’s supplies.
