This florals in bloom card was inspired by the project on page 40 of the new catalogue. It reminded me of a criss-cross card I made a few years ago. I loved the idea of bright blooms bursting from an envelope shape.

Florals in Bloom Suite
The Florals in Bloom suite includes two stamp sets and two sets of matching dies. It also features designer series paper and flat pearls for added sparkle. Four new In-Colours bring bright, cheerful energy to every design. The suite offers a fun, fresh take on floral crafting.

Criss-Cross Card Design
The criss-cross card looks fancy but is simple to make. Start with a square of cardstock the same colour as the card base. Cut it diagonally to create two equal triangles.
Overlap the triangles at the bottom to form an envelope shape. Often the triangles are glued at the sides and bottom only to create a pocket. This pocket can hold tags, notes, or a mini card, see my Criss-Cross Bookmark Card.
Another method uses two card bases, trim one side of each base into a triangle.
Glue them together to create the criss-cross fold

Florals in Bloom Two-Step Stamping
Both Florals in Bloom stamp sets use two-step stamping, this means stamping different parts of the image in layers. Start with stems, then stamp the flower heads separately. You can die cut the pieces and assemble them. That’s what I’ve done for this project.
For the flowers, I begin with the solid stamp. I stamp off the ink first for a lighter shade.
Then I use the detailed stamp in full colour on top.
Another option is colouring the detailed stamp with a blender pen. Check out the video to see how I coloured one flower this way.
