If you’re looking to create a stunning Christmas card, try making a faux centre step card using the Stampin’ Up! Golden Greenery Bundle. This version mimics the classic centre step design but is much easier to make, with less cutting and scoring.
If you’re interested in trying the original centre step design, check out my previous post where I created one with a step-by-step guide.
Why Choose a Faux Centre Step Card?
The traditional centre step card is beautiful, but it involves precise measurements, scoring and cuts. With the faux centre step card, you achieve the same elegant look with simpler steps. Plus, you can easily modify the size to suit your needs.
Materials for a Faux Centre Step Christmas Card
For this project, I used the Golden Greenery Bundle and the Season of Green & Gold DSP. These products coordinate beautifully, allowing for endless creativity. The faux centre step card design provides a large central space, perfect for showcasing your decorative elements.
Recreating the Look of Season of Green & Gold DSP
I wanted the stamped images to resemble those on the Season of Green & Gold DSP. After experimenting with various ink combinations, I found the perfect match. These practice images will be used for future cards, so none of my efforts were wasted!
Adding Gold Accents to Your Faux Centre Step Card
I had originally planned to use Gold Mercury Vellum for the heart-shaped leaves, but it hadn’t arrived yet. Instead, I opted for Distressed Gold DSP, a retired product that complements the card’s gold accents. The balance between the gold background and the bells in the foreground adds a festive touch.
Embossing Gold Bells for Extra Shine
To make the bells, I used Gold Embossing Powder on Gold Foil. Here’s a tip: use an embossing buddy to remove static from the foil before stamping with VersaMark. After stamping, apply the powder, heat-set it, and die cut the bells using the Golden Greenery Dies.
Finishing Touches for Your Faux Centre Step Card
For the sentiment, I used the Greetings of the Season Stamp Set. I embossed it in gold powder on Mossy Meadow cardstock and straight cut the card for a morden look.
I stamped off the ink for the inner sprig so it has a lighter appearance.
With these simple steps, you’ll have a gorgeous faux centre step Christmas card, perfect for spreading holiday cheer.
