Are you looking for inspiration for your next handmade card? Let me introduce you to my latest project, the Grow With Love Double Case Herb card. This design combines elements from two beautiful card samples for a fresh, creative result. Let’s dive into the details!
Grow With Love Design Details
For this card, I drew inspiration from two sources. First, I used the colour palette from the Grow With Love bundle sample in the online store. Then, I incorporated the layout from Stacey Marsh’s card, featuring the Corner in Bloom Stamp Set from Sale-A-Bration. By combining these elements, I created something entirely unique.
Embossed Background
Instead of stamping on the Basic Beige layer, I opted for an embossing folder to add texture. Embossing folders are an excellent way to elevate your design when you don’t have the perfect stamp. The textured background makes the herbs pop beautifully.
Grow With Love Layered Herbs
To achieve a layered look, I stamped the herbs in different colors and die-cut them using the corresponding dies from the Grow With Love bundle. These were adhered to a circle cut from the Spotlight on Nature dies. The layered herbs add depth and interest to the card.
Ribbon and Sentiment Placement
I used the Iridescent Striped Trim across the card front and a lovely bow on the right-hand side. The sentiment is attached to the circle rather than the ribbon. This placement keeps the sentiment from looking loose.
Colour Combination
The Grow With Love sample’s colour palette inspired this card. It features pretty tones on a Basic Beige and White background with a hint of Fresh Freesia. This combination feels soft and elegant, perfect for an herb-themed card.
Layout Love
Stacey’s card layout stood out to me for its layered flowers, circular focal point, and ribbon detail. I instantly imagined replacing the flowers with herbs and started crafting right away. The result was a delightful adaptation of her design.
Casing for Creativity
Combining elements from two cards is one of my favorite ways to craft. It gives me a clear starting point while allowing space for personal creativity. Seeing my first version take shape sparked new ideas for the second card.
