Last week, I mentioned my excitement about the bordered stag paper from the Winter Meadow DSP. Today, I’m thrilled to share how I used it for a unique card design. Inspired by a pleat fold from Susan Campfield, I found that this fold highlights the paper beautifully.
DESIGN DETAILS
I followed Susan’s measurements for the 12-inch piece but adapted it to a metric card base. Then, I created my own design for the card front.
This card style is perfect for showcasing your favorite patterned papers. Many patterns from the Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper work well with this pleat fold, adding depth and colour to the inside of your card.
The sentiments on this card come from the Greetings of the Season stamp set, with accents from the matching dies in the bundle. I also used label dies from the Nested Essentials set.
TIPS ON HOW TO USE BORDERED DSP
Bordered designs, like the stag pattern, can sometimes be tricky to work with. Since these papers often have a decorative border with a blank center, they require a creative approach. Stampin’ Up! revealed that this design was made to cut into six card fronts, but you can also use the full 12-inch sheet. For this card, I used the length to create the pop out pleated effect inside.
Pleat folds are an excellent choice for bordered DSP as they showcase the border while adding a fun, layered effect to your cards. Try it out with your favourite papers for a stunning result!
