Make a Layered Christmas Tree Card with Merriest Trees

I turned a favourite holiday ornament into a Christmas card using Stampin’ Up!’s Merriest Trees stamp set and dies. This project layers textures and colors for a beautiful festive effect.

About the Merriest Trees Set

This set, featured in the Annual Catalogue on page 78, includes a Christmas tree, ornaments, and Christmas present designs, as well as sentiments perfect for sending greetings to friends and family. With Merriest Trees, you can create layered, dimensional trees that bring festive volume to any card. Perfect for card making or tags, you’ll love the simple or sophisticated projects you can create with this set!

Adding Texture with Two-Step Stamping

Merriest Trees is a two-step stamp set, perfect for adding texture and depth. Adding Texture is so eaay with Two-Step Stamping.  Simply choose 2 complimentary colours, stamp the lightest one first with the solid stamp. Follow up with the detail stamp and the darker ink.

Crafting the Card Base and Display-Ready Tree

For my card, I used Crumb Cake cardstock as the base, with a matching inner tab for attaching the tree.

I stamped the tree multiple times and die cut each layer before assembling. Once assembled, the tree stands beautifully for display and folds flat for easy mailing. You can stamp a message on the back of the tree for a handwritten greeting or leave it blank.

Choosing Colours for a Modern Holiday Look

I chose Soft Sea Foam and Old Olive for a fresh holiday colour palette, neutral Crumb Cake and silver foil for a festive touch. In my video and PDF tutorial, I show how to maximize your cardstock while crafting a Christmas tree card with volume and shine.

Going Beyond Traditional Christmas Card Designs

This season, I’m excited to experiment beyond traditional shapes and colours for Christmas cards that surprise and delight. For example last week’s Peach Pie and Petunia Pop reindeer card.

Last year, I used this set to create a Coral Merriest Christmas card and these tags as table gifts, which were a huge hit!
