Neutral Noel Christmas Card

Today, I’m sharing an elegant Neutral Noel Christmas Card featuring little houses, a die-cut wreath and beautiful gold accents. I’ve had my eye on the Neutral Noel Suite since the catalogue was released. After all, houses, wreaths, trees and touches of gold are some of my favourite Christmas elements!

For this design, I wanted to combine pattern and texture to create depth and interest. The result is a cosy Christmas scene that feels like looking through a leafy window.

Creating Pattern and Texture with Neutral Noel

First, I used Basic Beige cardstock and the Softly Woven 3D Embossing Folder* to create a beautifully textured background. This adds subtle detail without competing with the other elements.

Next, I die cut an oval from the Neutral Noel 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper* using the Noel Tidings Dies. The gold pattern adds a touch of elegance and draws the eye towards the centre of the card.

Finally, I die cut the wreath from Mossy Meadow cardstock. The layered greenery creates more texture and frames the patterned oval beautifully. Together, these elements create the effect of looking through a leafy window.

Tips for Die Cutting the Neutral Noel Wreath

Some intricate dies can be tricky to cut cleanly. Sometimes, the cardstock won’t release in one piece. However, a few simple techniques can help you achieve better results.

Try these tips when die cutting the wreath:

  1. Position the die vertically. Place it on your cutting plate in a portrait direction.

  2. Roll it through twice. Run the die through your die-cutting machine, then roll it back again.

  3. Remove the excess cardstock carefully. Gently lift away the outer pieces, then use a small tool to remove any remaining bits from the die-cut design.

These steps can help the intricate branches cut more cleanly. Remember, results may vary depending on your machine, plates and cardstock.Neutral

Adding the Little Houses and Woodland Details

The little houses, tree and deer bring this Christmas card to life. I stamped and die cut these elements using the coordinating Welcome Noel Bundle.*

I love how the little houses and deer create a cosy “home for Christmas” theme. The soft colours also complement the gold patterned paper and deep green wreath.

Next, I added the sentiment, “from our home to yours”. I stamped it in Mossy Meadow ink on Basic Beige cardstock, then die cut it using a label frame from the Noel Tidings Dies.*

This simple greeting ties the whole design together. It also makes the card perfect for sending warm Christmas wishes to family and friends.

Items marked * are included when you buy the Neutral Noel Suite.

Balancing the Pattern and Texture

One of my favourite details is the placement of the houses and woodland elements. Rather than adding more  along the bottom.

As a result, the patterned oval remains visible and the background can shine. The arrangement also creates a lovely sense of scale. The two little houses look small in comparison to the wreath, just like a glimpse of a tiny village through a window.

Finally, the gold accents add a subtle sparkle without overwhelming the design. I love how the combination of Mossy Meadow, Basic Beige and gold creates an elegant Christmas colour palette.
