Last month, our card-making class explored the timeless elegance of the Magnolia Mood stamp set. Today I’m thrilled to share one of the stunning creations, inspired by a card from Linda Cullen. The Magnolia Mood set, with its classic floral designs, brought a touch of nostalgia and sophistication to our cards. Lending them to evoke a vintage feeling, which I continued with a bit of distressing and ink blending.
MATERIALS USED
- Magnolia Mood Stamp Set: The centerpiece of the project, featuring intricate vintage-style magnolia flower designs and versatile sentiments.
- Magnolia Mood Dies: Intricate die-cut magnolia, bud and leaves cut from subtly patterned Designer Series Paper.
- Cardstock: Pebbled Path cardstock, a neutral shade to complement the vintage magnolia illustrations.
- Ink Pads: Tone on tone with Pebbled Path ink.
- Embellishments: Sparkle Gems or Adhesive Dots to add that final touch of vintage glamour.
DESIGN DETAILS & STEPS
Stamping the Magnolia: I began by stamping the large magnolia flower from the Magnolia Mood set in Pebbled Path ink which was stamped off first. This initial layer served as a subtle background, on the Pebbled Path card, allowing the die-cut magnolia image to stand out.
Die-cutting the Focal Point: Using a piece of the Nature’s Sweetness Specialty Deisnger Series Paper I die-cut the intricate Magnolia image. The fine gold lines in the paper added a touch of vintage elegance and a luxurious feel to the card. This was adhered using dimensionals.
Adding Vintage Details: To add more vintage feels I distressed the cardstock by rubbing with a bone folder to break the fibres and turndown the top corner. Ripping and bruising the paper slightly, and adding ink with a blending brush. Creating what I call soft vintage.
Assembling the Card: Once the cardtock and designer series paper pieces had been layered together and adhered to the bottom of the card this panel was then adhered to the center of our card base.
Adding Sentiments and Embellishments: I chose a sentiment from the Magnolia Mood set, stamping it in a coordinating ink color. Finally, I added a few Sparkle Gems or In Colour Dots for a touch of sparkle.
