This Delicate Whispers Arched Easel Card was such a pleasure to make. It’s not often I create something a little more involved. However, this design felt perfect for a very special lady celebrating her 80th birthday.
Because it’s a milestone birthday, I wanted a fun fold. My friend is also a keen gardener. So, the Delicate Whispers bundle felt like a lovely choice. The hand-drawn flowers give such a soft and charming look.
Why I Love This Arched Easel Card
I’ve made this shape before using a tutorial from Emma Goddard. I really love how the focal panel is raised for display. It turns the card into a keepsake rather than just a greeting card.
To recreate it, I actually watched my own video tutorial. That was a slightly surreal moment—getting instructions from myself!
For this version, I made the arch the same colour as the card base. I also added a few decorative ideas inspired by Annette Elias. In particular, I love the inner arch for the sentiment. The vellum layer behind it adds softness and depth.

Delicate Whispers Arched Easel Card Details
The floral elements really bring this Delicate Whispers Arched Easel Card to life. I layered flowers and foliage around the arch to frame the sentiment. This helps draw the eye straight to the centre.
The Delicate Dreams Specialty Designer Series Paper features soft blues, greens, and creams. It also includes beautiful bronze foil accents. These details add a touch of elegance without overpowering the design.
Creating the Hydrangea Hue Colour
The paper includes the new In-Colour Hydrangea Hue. At the time of making, I didn’t have the ink yet. So, I followed a great tip from Alisa Tilsner.
I blended Light Fresh Freesia with two layers of Dark Balmy Blue Blends. The result was a lovely match. It worked beautifully for colouring the flowers.
Adding the Milestone Sentiment
I really wanted to highlight the age for this special birthday. To do this, I used a simple stamping technique.
First, I inked one word from the stamp and stamped it. Then, I cleaned the stamp thoroughly before inking the next word. This allowed me to position each part exactly where I wanted.
For the “80th,” I die cut the numbers from Brushed Metallic Cardstock. This adds a lovely shine and helps the number stand out.
