I think Autumn could be my favourite season, it’s hard to say as they all have their pros and cons. What I love about Autumn is the changing colours of the leaves and that is captured beautifully in the Beauty of the Earth suite.

PEAKING THROUGH THE LEAVES

I had seen some projects made with this suite and I loved how the tree branches were visible when the large detailed tree top die was used with the designer paper. But I wanted more stamping in this class project.

So I created my own version by stamping the largest tree top in Merry Merlot. Instead of simply die cutting that shape I used the large tree top die with the cut outs first. Then I cut the shape using the outline die for the stamp.

If you try this be sure to watch carefully as you take the outline die off as you may need to keep a couple of the pieces to add back in so your tree is the right shape.

COLOURS OF THE EARTH

I chose to use Cinnamon Cider and Night of Navy to compliment the Beauty of the Earth DSP. I love the ombre watercolour effect on this particular sheet of paper and by adding the Cinnamon Cider layer I was able to cut 6 per sheet of 12 x 12 for my class.

The tree trunk and branches were stamped in Early Espresso on the Basic White layer. I chose to adhere the die cut tree top using tombo to show the stamped branches to best effect and because the tree top could be a little delicate.

MANY LAYERS

Adding layers and dimension elevates projects, giving them a more luxury appearance so I try to incorporate this into my designs.

I have also stamped a smaller tree to the inside of the card. Using Early Espresso and Cinnamon Cider inks.

I’ve white embossed the sentiment on Night of Navy card stock to tie in the card base and the Navy in the DSP.
