Today’s tutorial features a show-stopping Arched Accordion Fold card using the elegant Beautiful Gallery Suite. Whether you’re a seasoned cardmaker or just getting started, you’ll love how this design comes together.
Why Try an Arched Accordion Fold Card?
The Arched Accordion Fold card isn’t just beautiful—it’s a fun way to elevate your cardmaking skills. This fold adds layers, depth, and movement to your design, making your card feel more interactive and special. Plus, with the Everyday Arches Dies, you’ll get clean, consistent arches every time.
Build the Arched Accordion Fold Base
Start by cutting six arch panels using the Everyday Arches Dies—three for the front and three for the back. Use a strip of printer paper to create the spine. This connects the panels into an accordion-style card base.
The Everyday Arches Dies include multiple sizes. I used the second-largest die for the base and the next size down for the focal scenes. This leaves a perfect border to frame each window.
Design the Details
Once you’ve built the base, add coordinating designer series paper to create a seamless scene across the last two arches. For the front, I used the emboss resist technique with stamped and die-cut florals from the Beautiful Gallery Suite.
To keep the look cohesive, I added a matching floral cluster with a linen thread bow on the third panel.
Try the Emboss Resist Technique
Here’s how to create a custom emboss resist background:
Stamp your image with Versamark ink.
Heat emboss with white embossing powder.
Apply color using one of these methods:
Watercolor wash
Ink blending brush
Direct-to-paper with an ink pad
The embossed image resists the ink and stays crisp white, revealing a striking background underneath.
