What if your card could hide a beautiful surprise inside?
That’s exactly what I created this week with my Charming Day Hidden Gatefold card. Inspired by one of Stampin’ Up!’s own samples (and a little bit of my own previous work!), this design lets the gorgeous Floral Charm Designer Series Paper truly shine. Follow along as I walk you through my brighter, bolder take on the original sample — including my favourite layered floral effect, vibrant Berry Burst accents, and that special hidden fold inside.
INSPIRED BY STAMPIN’ UP!
For the card front, I drew inspiration from a Stampin’ Up! sample. I especially loved the layered effect of stamping an image beneath die cut flowers and leaves, as well as the way they coloured the leaves with Blends on a Basic White die cut.
FLORAL CHARM DESIGNER SERIES PAPER
I chose my favourite paper pattern for the background and layered a Textured Notes die cut rectangle on top. The flowers and leaves were die cut from the reverse side of the designer series paper, with a pop of Berry Burst to create a brighter, bolder look than the original sample. To finish the front, I stamped the birthday sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink on matching cardstock—it felt like the perfect complement to the colours.
HIDDEN GATEFOLD INSIDE
Inside, I carried the theme through with the same pattern for the hidden gatefold feature. A matching die cut rectangle creates a space for the message, while a single flower—again die cut from the designer series paper—adds the finishing touch.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I’m so pleased with how this Charming Day Hidden Gatefold card came together—it’s a fresh, colourful twist on a design I’ve loved before, and the hidden gatefold adds a fun surprise for the recipient.
